We stayed at the Grand Cayman Marriott the week of July We are a family of 6, so we needed two rooms. We were upgraded to two oceanview rooms upon check in, even though we paid for courtyard view. The rooms were spacious, each had a small fridge, which came in handy for the snacks and drinks we bought at the grocery store down the road (took the bus, which was very cheap and reliable). The beach was beautiful, with its own man made reef right offshore, making it easy for even our 6 year old to snorkel with us and see all the fish! Service was overall pleasant and helpful. As with any hotel property, food and drink was expensive onsite but what is nice about this hotel is its location to many restaurants within walking distance. More restaurants, shops and grocery stores were located a short bus ride away. Also, at this hotel you are able to do many water sports like jetskiing, parasailing, banana boats, sea kayaks, etc without having to travel anywhere- there is a company right on site next to the towel stand who was happy to help us with all of that kind of stuff. We loved our stay so much we plan on returning next summer!

One of the best hotels on the island. An amazing beach with lots of activities. Great food but pricey. The hotel is very safe and family oriented, but within just a short walk theres some active nightlife. A trip to stingray city is a must.

in April, 2009, I was first placed in one of four "beachfront rooms" that are actually "poolfront" rooms. These are the nicest rooms in the hotel and have their own private patios. However, I could not sleep because of the pool patrons and pool parties that would last until midnight. Because of the awful stench of mold coming from the a/c which doesn't properly work, I was moved after night one to the only other room available, a high floor with beautiful beach view. Nonetheless, the room still stunk of mildew and mold. After having to display a little anger, I finally coached out the info from the front desk I wanted -- the whole hotel was mildewed and moldy. However, I did not understand how the isolated a/c units in the wall were giving the smell as well. Because I won't go back, I need not worry about the answer. Also, this is not a resort -- it is a hotel. Finally, I chose it because I thought it was a four-star hotel. I would more properly rate it a 3-star, and with the mold/mildew problem that was already one year old, I would properly downgrade that rating to a two-star. I did not perceive this Marriott to give value in any way. Don't be fooled by the "dive shop" on premises. No Grand Cayman hotel that I found other than lower-class (two-star or three-star) dive resorts have true, full-service dive shops/ air fills, etc., on premises.

If you go the Grand Cayman and stay at the Marriott Hotel DO NOT stay in room 226. They charged us an ocean view rate for a room with a palm tree blocking the whole view. When it rained at night the raindrops hitting the palm leaves made a very loud noise. When we complained the simply said they were totally booked and there was not much that they could do.
